The Great Movies at the Library

Although this will only affect people in my little corner of Maryland, I wanted everyone – especially lovers of classic movies – to know about it. The Severna Park Library, part of the Anne Arundel County Public Library system, will begin a new series in January called The Great Movies. Each first Thursday, my co-worker Julia and I will introduce a film, talking briefly about why the movie is a classic, the impact it had upon its initial release, and why it is relevant now. After the film, we’ll have time for questions and answers. Although neither of us are film experts, we both are passionate about movies, especially classics.

Our first film will be Casablanca (1942) on Thursday, January 7 at 6:30pm. On February 4 we’ll show Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb (1964). Future titles will be announced soon.
