Once again I’m honored to be one of the contributors to the most recent issue of The Dark Pages: The Newsletter for Film Noir Lovers, edited by Karen Burroughs Hannsberry. In the January/February issue I’m honored to have two contributions: “What’s New in Noir?”, a new column that looks at recent film noir releases on Blu-ray and DVD, and “Maigret on Disc,” a review of two Inspector Maigret movies starring Jean Gabin on Blu-ray and DVD from Kino Lorber.
One of the best aspects of being a movie lover occurs when you learn about a great movie from someone you trust and respect. I’ve checked out many great movies from Rupert Pupkin Speaks and am honored to be invited to contribute my 2017 Film Discoveries to that blog. Many thanks to Brian at RPS for having me on the blog!
February turned out to be a pretty good month with 40 films, 33 of which I saw for the first time. Starting this month, I’m also including how I watched these movies. I hope you’ll find something to investigate here. Films I particularly liked are in bold.
The Adventures of Robin Hood (1938) Michael Curtiz, William Keighley
Many thanks to everyone who came out on a rainy Thursday night to watch The Adventures of Robin Hood (1938), the latest movie in our Great Movies series at the library.
