It’s a busy time around here with my 22nd wedding anniversary this weekend, Summer at Your Library promotional visits at schools, writing, and more, so things will continue to be a bit sparse here at Journeys in Darkness and Light. In the meantime, I have several items of interest for you:
Noir City is going strong, starting up soon in Boston June 8-10. You can find that schedule here.
A bit closer to home (at least for me), the Robert Mitchum retrospective is still happening at the AFI Silver Theatre and Cultural Center, featuring several noir titles.
How about something to listen to during your commute? Your workout? Walking the dog? First up, you must check out The Magic Lantern’s coverage of the recent Noir City Austin festival where Cole and Ericca provide their usual fantastic insights into 10 great noir screenings.
Also not to be missed: the most recent episode of Noir Talk, in which host Haggai Elitzur interviews Thomas Doherty, author of the new book Show Trial: Hollywood, HUAC, and the Birth of the Blacklist.
Finally, you can watch or listen to Illeana Douglas interview film historian and author of the book Michael Curtiz: A Life in Film, Alan K. Rode on the I Blame Dennis Hopper podcast.
There, that ought to keep you off the streets for awhile… Hope to be back with you soon.
Thank you!
