What’s This???

I’ve got a bit of news to those who’ve been following Journeys in Darkness and Light for nearly four years. First of all, thank you for reading and for joining me on this journey. If this sounds like I’m saying goodbye, I’m not. I’m simply moving to a new platform: my own website.

As much as I’ve enjoyed posting my thoughts on movies (and other things) on the blog, I’ve wanted to expand things for quite some time. I’ve gotten involved in so many movie-related ventures these past few years, including freelance writing for websites, becoming a staff writer for The Dark Pages: The Newsletter for Film Noir Lovers. Three years ago I began introducing, screening, and discussing movies at the Severna Park Library, leading to The Great Movies series and other movie projects I present with my co-worker Julia. Lastly, I’ve recently begun podcasting with the wonderful Audy Christianos at Film Don’t Lie, where we discuss some of the Friday Night Double Feature films on FilmStruck’s Criterion Channel. I felt it was time to expand.

I also want to do more freelance work related to movies. I’m not trying to be pretentious; I have an awful lot to learn about becoming a better writer, presenter and podcaster. I’m hoping that this website will give me more opportunities to do such things and grow in each of these areas.

You’ll notice the website has a blog. I hope you’ll enjoy it as much (maybe even more) than the old blog. I plan to post at both blogs for awhile, at least for the next several weeks, perhaps longer. I’m still looking into porting everything over from the old blog, but for now, both will be available.

The website is clearly still a work in progress, so I welcome your comments on this new venture. And again, thank you for reading and your continued support.
