  1. Erin, thanks for the info! Did not know that about Lola. Will definitely check that out. I’ve always wanted to see some of Demy’s work, but just never have for some reason, not until I found Model Shop in a stack of movies a friend of mine loaned me. I did find Model Shop interesting, but not quite as cohesive as I would’ve liked, but after researching it a bit, I don’t think it was quite the film Demy wanted to make. I still find it a very interesting endeavor. Thanks again, as always, for stopping by!

  2. You may already be aware of this, but Model Shop is a sequel (in a kind of off-beat way) to Demy’s first feature, Lola, where Aimée plays the same character. Another one of the main characters from Lola also reappears in Demy’s The Umbrellas of Cherbourg; there may be other direct connections like that between some of his films, though I can’t think of any others at the moment (not that I’ve seen everything yet). Model Shop isn’t his best work, but I found it interesting in the context of his other films because his Los Angeles and the situations and circumstances of the story seemed so unromantic and lacking in magic — intentionally so, it appeared. It’s one that I should revisit, and it’s actually scheduled on TCM next Saturday night.
