The Eisner Awards, News, Reviews, Podcasts… Somebody Stop Me!

Thunderpaw

If we weren’t before, we’re definitely in full comics and graphic novel mode here at the blog. Recently, Derek and I recorded our June Webcomics episode, where we discussed Hans Rickheit’s Ectopiary, Jen Lee’s Thunderpaw, and several horror short stories from Split Lip. I hope you’ll check out our discussion of these titles, then check out the webcomics themselves.

Also, I am honored to join some very distinguished writers and comics scholars in a discussion of the 2015 Eisner Award nominations, which you can find here.

Next, Derek and I recently reviewed three new comics and graphic novels. That podcast (Episode #139 for those of you keeping score at home) should be up later today at The Comics Alternative.

Finally, Derek and I will have the great pleasure of interviewing Rick Geary in just a few days. If you aren’t familiar with Geary, you should be. He writes and illustrates some of the best true crime stories you’ll find anywhere. Geary’s new book, Louise Brooks: Detective departs from his usual M.O., giving us the non-fictional story of silent film star Louise Brooks as she (fictionally) tries to solve a crime. It’s excellent stuff.

Time to get back to work…
