Derek and I recently reviewed works by two legendary comics creators over at The Comics Alternative, a podcast episode you can check out here. First, we looked at a stand-alone title by Gilbert Hernandez, Grip: The Strange World of Men, originally released as single issues by Vertigo in 2002, now presented in a new collected edition from Dark Horse.
Next we examined Little Nemo: Return to Slumberland, an homage to the brilliant turn-of-the-century strip by Winsor McKay, this time written by Eric Shanower with art by Gabriel Rodriguez. This all-ages book from IDW manages to remain faithful to the original material while engaging audiences 100 years after the strip’s original publication.
Finally, a single issue kicking off a new series from another comics legend, Alan Moore, this time working with frequent collaborator artist Jacen Burrows on Providence #1, an H.P. Lovecraft-inspired 12-part series from Avatar Press.
And if you haven’t checked out our coverage of HeroesCon 2015, you can listen to that as well as the first installment of several interviews with many of the con’s creators. Enjoy!
